Why We Use Cressi and Mares for Diving Trips
Key West is one of the best vacation destinations in the world for anyone who loves scuba diving. One of the best things about Key West diving is that conditions stay the same nearly all year round. Divers flock to Key West since it's the only dive spot on the United States with its own living coral barrier reef.
The USNS Gen. Hoyt S. Vanderberg is the location of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, which is also the habitat to a variety of species of marine life. Wreck diving is a favorite activity of local and vacationing divers, and it's worth the time to schedule a dive with a certified instructor to see all that Key West has to offer.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when you're Key West diving is safety. Although unexpected things can happen whenever you're diving, it's especially important if you're a beginner. When a student chooses a dive school, they're putting their lives in the hands of experienced dive masters to teach them the basics and keep them safe underwater.
A lot of certified dive masters always use their own brand of equipment when they're out on diving trips. There are a lot of different brands out there, and you should use the right equipment for the type of diving you do. It's important to use gear that fits you well and is easy to operate. When it comes to choosing a certain type of metal for the tanks, it's usually a matter of preference. Some people prefer steel over aluminum and vice versa.
As far as all the equipment that's needed for the dive, there are established brands on the market that some divers prefer over others. It depends on the gear that suits you the best. The other considerations are whether the gear can be serviced locally and which brands are best suited to the diving conditions. Dive masters from certain shops often use particular brands of gear because the shop requires them to or they can get a big discount when they buy it. Sometimes both things apply.
When we go on dive trips we use our own brands, Cressi and Mares. Both companies manufacture equipment that's made in Italy. Cressi was founded in 1946, is still owned by the same family, and manufactures some of the best equipment in the water sports industry. The company makes top of the line scuba, snorkeling, swimming, spearfishing and free diving equipment. Mares manufactures diving wear, masks, regulators, instruments, and accessories. We've found that the products from both of these manufacturers provide the functionality and safety features that are important to us.
There are different types of scuba diving licenses or certifications. You may get a certification that allows ocean dives without an instructor. There are also special certifications that allow for night diving, cavern dives, or deep ocean dives. the equipment you use depends on the type of diving you're certified for.
We use our own brand on our diving trips because we're comfortable with Cressi and Mares equipment and the way it performs under certain conditions. If you're new to diving, we can recommend the type of equipment that's best suited to you, your ability, and the type of diving you'll be doing.
